      There are different numbers depending on what kind of physics you are looking at!
      In the normal sense there are 4: x, y, z and time
      In string theory and M-theory there are more than 10! It all depends on how you want to look at the universe!

      Yes it all depends on which version of string theory you happen to believe! all the extra spatial dimensions in string theory are thought to be curled up on themselves and so we can’t see or experience them at all in our lives… we only work in the 3 big space dimensions (depth, width & height) and then because things change, we also have a 4th dimension which is time…

      Other universes could have a different number of dimensions!
