• Question: Is there an answer to why some animals are carnivores and some herbivores?

      I think comes down to evolution – being a herbivore is actually quite time consuming – you need to spend a lot of your time eating to get enough energy!
      A long time ago, an animal discovered it was much easier just to eat a herbivore instead of foraging for plants and then spend the rest of the time sleeping (i’m looking at my cat while writing this!)… once they discovered that, they evolved to have sharp pointy teeth and claws to make it easier to catch herbivores and different stomachs to digest the meat easier. However, if all herbivores died there’d be nothing to eat so there’s a natural balance between how many herbivores you have and how many carnivores.
