• Question: why do photos fade if they are on a window sills for a long time

      The images that we see on photos are made by coloured ink and dye molecules that make the picture. If photos are in the sun for a long time the energy in the light from the sun can break down the colour molecules that make the picture, causing it to fade!

      In fact, the process Jess talks about works on all sorts of things- like clothes and carpets and hair!! all of these fade (or get lighter) in prolonged sunlight…
