• Question: Why is copper so expensive?

      Coppers actually pretty cheap compared to other metals. Metals generally are a little bit expensive because they need to be dug out the ground and have any impurities taken out of them. However in comparison as I said coppers pretty cheap. Copper is ~£80 per kg, whereas rarer metals like ruthenium are up to £150,000 per kg!

      If you’re asking that why copper is stolen a lot, it’s because it’s easy steal! it’s often used for roofs and is easy to sell on… so we often hear that copper is valuable for that reason and the other rarer metals that Jess mentions are not very stealable since they’re generally hidden inside complex objects (like phones and computers!)…
