There are already quite a few ways to kill bacteria that you already know of! Of course antiseptics, disinfectants and antibiotics are all known to kill bacteria, but one very unknown thing that I have been working on is the bacteriophage.

Bacteriophages are the most common thing on the planet! There are 10 times more bacteriophages than bacteria (and there are around 5 million trillion trillion bacteria!). Bacteriophage are the natural hunters of bacteria – they inject themselves into bacteria and use the bacteria as food. They’re very wierd looking and look a bit alien. They are found everywhere, but we look for them most commonly in rivers, lakes and the soil. They are a very exciting new way of killing bacteria which could be used instead of antibiotics!
