Question: How was lamarcks theory of evolution proved wrong?

Lamarck’s theory of evolution is that certain characteristics gained by parents during their lifetimes can be passed down to their children. In fact I don’t think Lamarck’s theory has been proved wrong necessarily. Recent research has found that some things that happen to parents in their lifetimes do in fact effect their children!
