• Question: I know it sounds stupid but my question is what makes ice slippery ?because when I did some research on it silly answeres came up or stuff that was too complicated also I've heard that most scientists don't actually know !

      No question in science is ever stupid 🙂

      It’s a tricky subject that has had quite a few heads scratching over the past few years! Scientists now think that ice is slippery because of friction. When you rub a shoe or ice skate on ice, the friction between these two things warms up the ice which melts it. This creates a slippery water layer which allows you to slide.

      Jess is right i think! there’s a thin layer of water between you and the ice that makes it slippery…
