• Question: is there a way to turn off gravity in your own home?

      Yes there is, but you’d have to launch you home into space and put it in orbit around the earth. Or alternatively you could drop it from a height and then you’ll have no gravity for a few seconds (before you crash, obviously!)

      Zero gravity isn’t really no gravity. What it is in fact is a constant freefall, when astronauts are in orbit they are actually falling towards the earth, the reason they don’t crash is that they are moving so fast in the direction at a right angle to the surface that the surface falls away from them at the same rate.

      It’s quite hard to explain without a diagram so here’s one so you see what I mean.
