Learn as much as you can, keep up with current science stories, and write. Write a lot! Writing not only helps you find your style and lets you communicate ideas to others, but it also helps you understand what you’re writing about. Oh and keep at it, because that’s a hard world to get into, you might have to deal with rejection over and over before you find something.

funnily enough i went on a course about science and media only a couple of months ago! First, do a degree in science (in a science that interests you!) – and at uni (and school) write as much as you can like Steve says – write for local papers, school/uni papers etc… start a blog on the internet or maybe do little youtube things about a bit of science that interests you.

Imperial College in London does a really good masters course (a one year degree that comes after your first degree) in science communictaion which has launched a lot of careers!

And you might like to read science magazines such as New Scientist?
