      I don’t know why we get regular itches but allergic itches are cause by the hormone histamine. Histamine is released by your immune system to make your capillaries wider so that white blood cells can travel through them to the infection (or what your body thinks is an infection anyway!). This causes swelling and itching and is why you get a rash.

      I was really itchy while answering that question, I wonder why thinking about itches makes you have more of them?
